its a long tale
Baby ducks need to be kept warm until their primary feathers come in. If you ever go to a farm store, you will see that the chicks and ducklings are kept under illumination for warmth. If you place it out too soon, it could succumb to the cold.
no,no,no. You have to wait until 4 months ancient to place it in with the other duck. The older duck will kill the duckling..
You cant leave it outside anyway or it will die, it has to be under a heat lamp until 3 wks ancient. And its cold outside. It can go outside in its own pen or if your out there with it for a lil while when warm. When its 3 wks ancient then you can place it outside. Thats when u start to initiate them to oneanother. watch them but dont leave them. If the older duck is a male then you will have a longer time to get them use to oneanother, a feamale is lil easyer. My duck stayed inside until it was 3 wks ancient then it whent outside in garage in a cage but I has an ancient dog cage and place him in it durring the day, he thinks my hen is its mom, she is a hen who had been through a lot, she was attached by a coon and lost her leg and she was attached by somthin else and fosters my chick; this is only becaise she is broody chickens no tduck. let it swim in kiddypool too
I would not place the baby duck with the adult;;;;;;
The baby is still to small. the older could hurt,kill tramp to death, lay on see where iam going????
Place the baby in a pen till its huge enough to fend for its self and get out of the way of older duck. and under stands where he belongs in the bird world. excellent luck
No, it is absolutely not safe.
Older ducks can be temperamental and may take a dislikeing to the duckling (if that happens, I’m sorry, but the duckling is going down). Also, if it is a small cage, the older duck may accidentally trample the duckling.
Also, ducklings eat different food from mature ducks, and can die if they eat the older duck’s food (we in fact had this happen to a batch of chicks). Ducklings also need heat and can die if they get too cold. A further also, your duck’s waterer may be to high for the duckling to reach, and ducklings can die within a couple days if they have no water (once again, I have had this happen—it was SO tragic).
I hope I helped you!

The duckling is joining you in it’s own aptly not as a companion to your duck,though this sort of friendship may work out fine in future, now the duckling’s needs will include a safe & comfortable pen ,warmth ,feed suitable for it’s needs & clean water . After a few weeks have passed & the duckling is fully feathered it can be went out ,prefferably in stages,joining the duck will come later also phasing this step is a excellent thought.Hoping the two will get to know & like each other soon .
