The “Splendid American Duck Race” seems to be a sobriquet adopted by denizens of dueling ducks all over the U.S. – the oldest and doubtless best known American Duck Race is held each year in a place called Deming, New Mexico. This year will be the 26th year for the races, which now fills an entire weekend with events like pageants, concerts, a carnival, hot air ballooning, horseshoe tournaments and softball competitions.

I’m thinking this isn’t the event that you’re interested in, though, because the 26th annual Deming Splendid American Duck Races take place in August.
