Wow..I’m with you. My boyfriend hunts also – I LOVE duck! In fact, growing up, my grandmother used to make a roast goose or duck for the holidays each year…so maybe it’s because I grew up on it. I like doing duck on the grill…in fact, that and lamb are two of my favorite grilled things. (and I know a lot of people that don’t like lamb either).

People that claim that any game meats or foul tastes “gamey” have eaten it cooked by someone who hasn’t cleaned it properly or does not know how to cook it. Obviously, you do!

doubtless because these folks are not used to a bird with all dark meat or they have had one that tasted terrible. i myself like duck and goose, ialways soak mine in ice water before i cook it to help drain more blood out of the meat. the blood is what gives any game the gamey taste and if people arent used to killing their own food then they will say all game taste terrible

I had duck before and didn’t like it, I didn’t reckon it tasted gamey but it was fatty and tasted dreadful, maybe it wasn’t cooked aptly or was terrible, I don’t know because I place of protection’t tried it after that.

Beats me why people don’t like it. Your recipe sounds lovely, and I especially like duck Chinese-style with hoi sin sauce.

Well, I don’t know. I’ve by no means had the opportunity to taste goose, but I’d like to. I reckon duck is excellent though. But, I do not like the taste of venison. I’ve tried it all sorts of ways and I just plain don’t like it.
