GET A DUCK !!!
theyre adorable
Waterfowl do not make excellent indoor pets. Get a canary, finch or a budgie.
giant birds usually do not make excellent pets. i would recommend getting her something less vital and more reclaimed. unless you live out in the country large birds need outdoors and bodies of water to thrive, you can’t make an outdoor animal an indoor pet like a cat.
a goose will attack and peck her hard also they are very loud and noisy its in their nature
hold up..shes 12 nd she wants a duck? there outdoor animals not indoor animals.get her a cat or an indoor animal.if you reckon she can’t handle the responsibility then get her a rabbit or a guinea pig.
Maintenance incontinent water fowl in your house seems like a splendid thought…
Have you ever seen goose crap? Have you ever heard the expression, “Goes through it like crap through a goose.”? You want this for an Indoor pet?!?!? And ducks are not much better. If you want to live in a house full of animal crap, either one will be just fine.
As for my opinion. A excellent mother knows when to tell a child “No!”.
Cats are the best, they are very clean animals. I would choose a rabbit next and keep it in a cage.
you should get a duck, but make sure it has a place to swim. geese get quite aggressive
If she wants a goose, I reckon you should get her a goose!
Well if you get a goose it can attack or peck but ducks i by no means seen attack and ducks are also cute
i hoped this helped!!!
If you have by no means owned a duck or goose you have a lot of work ahead of you. They may be cute, yes I agree but they are very messy at times and need constant eeryday cleaning. They also can be very protective and agressive too especially geese.
I mean if I had a lady that needed a home I would take them, but if you havent had experiances with eaither aniamsl its very very hard and you have your hands fool.
Quail are fine. I am hatching some now. BUT they are very delecate.
If she is wanting a fowl tyoe animal. Try looking into a chicken. It is very nice to have nearly.
I have given up ducks and geese due to there agressive tendancies and kept all 36 chickens.
Chickens are very simple to care for inexpensive and are loyal sweet creatures.
Here is a small about caring for chickens…………
FEEDING: Baby chicks are to eat chick starter until they are 3 weeks ancient. This has the essintials needed for them to grow. After that they should be introduced to scratch feed. Mix in then eventually slowly add more scratch and less starter each week. When they are 6 plus months you can place layer but I have by no means used it my chickens lay a lot of eggs without making htem. Most like fruits and veggies as well. Romane lettuce cut up in tiny shreds mixed in with there feed or lace a side dish with lettuce waterrmelons and canalope. I usually dont feed them grapes because there poisonous to many birds so im not going to take that chance. Also appls I take out all seeds just to be on the sage side on all fruits. Its said to place sugar in water. I NEVER ever use to do that. Just fresh water and foods all they need and a bit more things…
HOUSING: The are to stay inside until they are 3 weeks of age 2 is fine as long as its 60 degrees or higher than. Then they need a brooder. A medium metal dogcage or I prefer a rabbit cage like this…

and a 200-250 watt infarred(causing them not to peck in fact) and take a nap at night. Placed over top. You can buy that at Tractor give. There is also metal bins that thy sell there too…. Bedding like I prefer Horse PELLET bedding how it is too huge to be consumed and dont place water to fluff it out or they will eat it and could harm chciks.
When they are able to go outside place them in an area like a shed or garage depending on where you want them to stay at so that arent killed by coons, fox, hawks… A shed with a 16in by 16 in square hole allow then to come in it at night. Add one nesting box per two hens and a wooden pole for a roost. that goes across the shed and bedding of hay or straw in the floor. On the entresnce of the small doof make a door so you can open and accurate it and lock at night to be safe from preditors. Add a wire netting fence nearly it a 50ft ones fine and after 2 weeks of you getting them to go in the shed at night, locking it up every day after 2 wks you can get rid of the fence and they will already before dark go in it by themselves. Thats what mine do.
AREA: They dont need to much of an area a small back yard fenced in is fine.
Trust me they are brilliant, they get rid of weeds and pests, and fertileize your grass….
Look into it let me know what you choose.
ducks geeese and quail need the same thing as chcikens by shelter food..
Goose are larger, more independant, and more stubborn. Some ducks can be held in the lap like a dog. Also, duck bites hurt way less and are more unlikely. Everything also expenditure more with geese. Larger poultry harnesses/diapers, more feed, and supplies are harder to find. Button quail get frightened very easily, and unless she wants a pet she can’t hold or pet, quail aren’t excellent pets.
