drain in and clean the sides and underside! DO NOT LET CHILDREN IN UNTIL SHOCKED AND CLORNATED!

  • max says:

give the duck a decent burial

  • Gary P says:

Throw in a few gallons of common bleach. Test the pool each day until the chlorine level is acceptable and then resume swimming.

I would call your local humane society or vet and question them the risks that it may pose!

  • Rob D says:

get something to scoop it out with, get rid of the duck, and clean the pool

  • Thomas D says:

The chlorine should kill whatever the duck had. You still should not let anyone swim in it for a few days to let the chlorine work its magic.

If you can somehow set the pool ablaze, try funneling a channel of the burning duck down a river so it looks like a volcano explosion. Perhaps you can even invite your friends over for a duck hunt contest.

Well, so long as you cleaned the pool and added additional chemicals you should be fine. Why not contact the fish and game folks and your local “pool guy” to see what both agencies recommend. The pool guy force have had similar instances and the fish and game may know of other similar situations and it could be something they need to be aware of within the wildlife population. Ducks falling from the sky and dying in pools doesnt sound common.
    Best of luck,

I personally would want to know why the bird died, so I’d be inclined to contact Fish and Game to see if there are any diseases going nearly with the birds or if maybe it’s been poisoned by pesticides or such. Personally, I’d have the pool painstakingly cleaned prior to allowing my kids to use it in view of the fact that a dead critter met it’s demise in it. I’d go with caution on this one … can by no means be too safe, in my humble opinion.
