So I have a female duckling and I want to get another female and a male so I can sell fertile eggs. Are pekin ducks good setters? If not I will have to incubate them but how do I know when they are fertile if they do not set on them? How many eggs will a duck lay in a batch of babies? How long will ferile eggs last not warm? Thanks!

I saw this thing on TV and I cannot remember if it was a commercial or on an actual TV show but it was two guys talking and one said “what do you get when you mix a chicken and a duck?”. All I remember is that the last thing they said was “Charles Dickens?”. Anybody know what I am talking about??

So I want to get 4 hens and 2 buff orpington ducks. I have a couple of questions.
1) My run for the poultry is going to be covered and what should the size of the run be? They will be in the run 24/7. I definately dont want them to be in a small cramped situation, so I want them to be free range, and not get to canniblism. What I was also thinking too is to have my dad build a little chicken tractor to put them in that in the day for like 5 hours. But would there need to be like one nesting box in there? or ???
2) is getting two hen ducks a good idea? I just want to make them into pets and keep the chickens just for hens.
3) How amny eggs per week on average would I get? I want to get a Buff orpington hen, an araucana hen, a Barred rock hen, and a Welsummer hen. I would get more chickens but this is my first time having poultry.
4) would it be better just to get my 4 hens first and then later get my two ducks?

Okay, so, I’m going to be getting some ducklings in about three weeks and I am starting to make housing plans.

I was wondering, can I house two ducks and two chickens in the the same pen? Why or why not?

Also, if I get two ducks and raise them from hatchlings, will they still be tame and friendly to me, or will they only like eachother?

How much room do 2 ducks and 2 chickens ( together, if possible) need for housing? ~ How many square feet? (is 11′ by 15′ good enough?)

Is hog fencing a good fencing to use for the pen? ( will it be raccoon proof that way?

How many eggs do two average/normal hens lay a day? ~ If they are healthy.

Im getting a duck and i was wondering if there is a difference between a duck and chicken icubator, if so what is it?

My male Pekin duck Waddlesworth hasnt really been around ducks, When he was younger, His sibblings were attcked by preditors and didnt make it. So I see him trying to mount my hens, He is sexually mature and trys to, Is there any way that could happen. Me having a duck/chicken hybrid.

If i get both and keep them in a run together i would provide a kiddie pool. My first question is would the chickens get in it? If so how can i keep them out? How messy is a duck(In the coop)? How much room do they need? Also, I either want to get a pair of Indian runners or call ducks. I will raise them from ducklings. What one will make a better pet? Could i get a call duck and an Indian runner?
I have hawks in my area so i can not let them out all day but i will supervise them outside each day so they can free range and fertilize my garden. I don’t care if Indian runners are ugly i just wanted to know if they will be friendly

many people are either alergic to them or just plain dont like them (either or). what do you prefer?
