Home for Goose- Serious Answers only… Needs good home not for COOKING!?

Hi
Needing a good home for an older domestic Grey and White goose.. may be possible to have 2nd white goose ..Likely female . no idea on age.
Both in good health. Been living in City ( population 5000) pond and riverway and cared for by our family.. One was dumped there several years ago. The other recently.
We are wanting to move out of the area but need to find a home for them before we can do that.
A good home would be… someplace where he can be the boss as he is used to it.. has other birds preferrably ducks not too many other geese.. or none.
He has seen 4 mates and a gosling, killed by people over the years and tends to socialize with ducks better than other geese now. He even adopts a mom duck each spring and her babies as his own…
He needs a loving home with a pond, lake or river, & Love

He is a male.. and is at least 7 years old and Fertile.
The other all white goose we feel is female but are not sure.. was a recent drop off, and seems very used to people
Hi
We are in Wisconsin… Goose lives on local river/pond.. We would not capture him before we had a home for him.. He WOuld be A rescue. We have worked with him fro years,, and he is happy on the river,,but he is aging,, winters are so hard on him,, and if we move there is nobody to care for him.
We have legal authority to remove him as we are the managers of the Urban flock.
This flock consists of both wild ducks and Pet ducks or geese dropped off once owners did not want them.. In Winter they are left to fend for themselves as they can not fly out and there is no natural food for them.. I am not looking for a shelter but a way to give him a better home to live out his years as a goose.. We would not take him out of where he was for anything less than a better home than where is is on the River.. Which means We wont move either.. We can not leave him …

Without the feed in winter most of those birds would simply die… So we stay til we find him a good home
He is not in our home.. H e along a river/pond near a park in a local town.. unshletered, where there has been many occasions of other birds and geese killed by rocks etc.. He loves it..but we want a safe better place for him with a family or person who will care for him.. We do it now.. But would like to move away and then could not and there is Nobody else willing to incurr the cost or time to weatch out for him the proper way…
We work in wildlife and know of many shelters etc… Im just looking for a actual person… We dont want to take him out o what he has unless its better.. If we dont find a home then we will stay until we do… We simply could not abandon him..
If most local folks knew we were looking they would go down and get themselves a Christmas goose around here… soooo

PLEASE please please help on Turducken cooking…?

I am going to try and make this for Thanksgiving for my family in addition to a small regular cooked turkey for those who are not so brave. But I DO NOT want to buy one, I want to attempt at making one and here are my biggest concerns. (also, please let me know of anything else to be wary of when making this that I have not thought of)
1.) I don’t want the Turkey meat especially to get dried out, what can I do to 100% prevent that. I know it can be done because if you buy a Turducken (from what I’ve heard) after cooking it at home, it’s very moist. What can I do to make sure it’s not dry, it’s obviously possible?
2.) Me and my family are not too big into stuffing with the turkey, so can I cook a Turducken with no stuffing or anything inside of is?
3.) And I’ve heard a big down fall of the Turducken is the duck. Duck is known for it’s crispy-when-cooked skin, but after cooking this way, of course it comes out flabby, fatty and almost inedible. Can I brown/crisp/sear it up in a pan (just the outside) before putting it inside the turkey, or will that not help either.
Please oh please, I just want to make something good and contribute something GOOD to the table for once. Plus, some family were uneasy with trying this Turducken anyways, and I don’t want their first taste to be yucky and a bad representation of the “dish”! Any advice, tips, soultions, and experiences would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much!

fine chinese cooking. duck question?

I was in Hongkong recently, and had a pretty fantastic duck.

The outside was crispy, like a peking / roast duck.

The gravy however, was cooked INSIDE the duck.
The waiter pulled a cork out of the duck, and the gravy poured out. The gravy was pretty bleeding fantastic.

Does anyone know the name of the duck?
Or have a recipe?
It’s not peking duck, it sounded something like “gua lor ar”.

I’m cooking for 3 friends: ideas for these ingrediants please!!?

Hey, i’m by no means the worlds best cook, far from infact, but i’m doing dinner for 3 friends tomorrow night.

Theres only really one specific requirement – its not to be tomato based.

I’m doing duck pancakes for the starter but its the main i really need some tips on… I want to do stuffed peppers, i read a recipe with couscous and lemon grass, anybody have anything similar? If not whats a good cheap alternative, still based on the the couscous.

Finally would stuffed peppers go well with mussels, salad and parsnip crisps? or is that all a bit random?

What can i do to piece it all together into one amazing meal? I’m out to impress as i’ve (wrongly) been labelled as the microwave meal guy and want to show them all i DO and CAN cook! : )

Any help greatly appreciated

Your worst cooking nightmare/embarrassment?

Okay, so I can’t be the only person in the world who has unintentionally released THINGS from my kitchen. You know. Monstrosities the likes of which should never grace a plate or be seen by sane men. Generally, if you listen to my husband, I’m a damned good cook with what I know, but I’m always learning, and along the way things sometimes get . . . messy.

So! I’d like to hear some stories about your greatest/worst/funniest culinary mishaps. Top Chef premiers tonight, and I need some good tales to get me in the mood. A terrible recipe, a mistaken ingredient, or just a dinner disaster. Best story gets the Best Answer prize, of course, and you get to make some people laugh or grimace with sympathy.

I’ll start. I’m a big fan of Alton Brown (he makes learning fun! :D ) and recently I saw the Duck episode. He basically shows you how to strip down a duck into quarters and cook it in a way that renders most of it’s fat out, making it leaner and tastier. My biggest mistake in attempting this myself a few days later may have been the fact that my knives were about as sharp as playskool safety scissors, but I also had no experience disassembling birds whatsoever. The carnage that day was terrible, I tell you. I abandoned my ill-suited kitchen shears halfway through and simply resorted to hammering on the joints with an extremely dull cleaver. It was like something out of Kill Bill. I de-boned sections that didn’t need de-boning and I did it POORLY. I had bits all over the front of my apron. It took me over an hour for one small bird. To top it all off, I ended up forgetting it in the oven for over an hour while I got distracted in the herb garden by something shiny, like a small, stupid puppy would. Burnt to a brick. Oh well. When my husband got home and asked what was for dinner, I just said “Nothing” and changed the subject. At least it was a lesson in humility.

So come on! Don’t be shy. Share you stories and maybe spare someone else the misfortune of making the same mistake.

I need a recipe, minimal cooking skill. My girlfriend wants dinner. HELP!?

I need to cook my girlfriend dinner. The problem is I have minimal cooking skill. I need a simple recipe that will taste fantastic. Fish, beef, chicken, or vegetable are all OK. Pork, lamb, veal, anything with onions, or duck are a major violation! I can follow recipes fairly well, but my cooking skills suck. Please help me out and give me your best recipe.

And no, I will not go out, buy something and repackage it. And yes, I have all the kitchen gadgets in the world.

Why do people say cooking saves tons/ i seem to spend too much!?

OK, unless you are eating noodles with hot dogs, it is not cheaper to cook. I cook actual real food and my husband and I can not manage to spend less than 500-600 a month on food. We live in New York so maybe that has something to do with it. I cook things like duck, beef bourgionion, goulash, roast lamb, roasted chicken, etc. We do not eat pasta / bread/ hamburger meat, is that why we spend so much? I just can not buy unhealthy food, and pasta and bread can fill you up for cheap but they suck. We spend about 50/week solely on salad veggies and fruit. We are not rich and i really want to make it more cost effective but i refuse to eat top ramen or other non quality dishes- sorry people but hamburger helper is not food, neither is mac n cheese.
