How long can duck eggs survive in the cold?
Hi! i have two runner ducks, one female and one male. They have made a big nest out of hay, and lay one egg per night. So far they have 5 eggs. They are not sitting on their eggs though… So my question is how long can the eggs survive in the cold? thanks!
How big are mallard or rouen duck eggs suposed to be?
I have a duck I think she’s a mallard, but she may be a rouen because she is big, but that could be just because we feed her well.
Anyways, her eggs are not fertilized but they are about the same size as chicken eggs-is that normal?
How long does it take for duck eggs to hatch?
There is a brown duck in our backyard and it laid eggs this morning. I don’t know what kind it is, just that it’s brown all over. My brothers and I are wondering how long do you think it will take for the eggs to hatch?
Help! I found 7 duck eggs, and I have lot’s of questions!?
there was a nest by my next door neighbors house and it had cracked (SMASHED) eggs all scattered everywhere with no mommy duck around. So I took four eggs and kept them in a box outside for the night like around 5, so it was about 80 to 75 degrees out.
Then the next morning I took the last 3 because the mom has not reterned (and still hasent). Then around 10 this morning I put them all in a fish tank with a lite, and the temp. in the fish tank is about 98 degrees. right now..
Are they alive?
How do I tell if they are?
Can I tell how old they they are?
Are they cold??
Should I crack one open to see if it’s alive?
Please help!!

Just Candled the Duck eggs and I have a few Questions.?
Well, I am incubating 3 Cayuga Duck eggs at the Moment. Laid by My Cayugas ( this years hatch ). And I recently candled them.
I started incubating the first one this past Friday ( like 2 days ago friday ) and the second one went into the incubator yesterday morning. And the third one came in this morning.
Well, I candled them just to see how the first two were doing, since the third really wouldn’t show much.
Anyways, the first one has shown wonderfully. You can cleary see the embryo and veins. And the second one it is a bit darker then the third, and you can see a few veins.
In the first one, even a beginner would be able to tell that its fertile.
Which is surprising to me,since this is only the second day.
With my last hatch ( parents of these eggs ) I had the temperature a bit too low, and they hatched a few days late.
Comparing the eggs from my last hatch and these, these ones seem a lot more developed at this age ( the first and second eggs ) compared to the last ones.
I am positive this time that I have the temperature right at 99.5′F
Is the temperature the cause of how much more developed these ones are compared to the others?
Also, I didn’t have a very great hatch this spring, I am pretty sure thats due to the fact the eggs were shipped and probably suffered from the shipping.
So, do you think I will have a better hatch seeing as these ones weren’t shipped. And were laid less then a day before being put in the incubator?
Thanks!
Yes, they have plenty of Humidity in the Water Rings.
Yes, 99.5′F is the correct temp.
I am sure about that.
How do I know if my duck eggs will hatch?
My family friend has ducks and chicken in his back yard and his family gave my family 6 fresh chicken eggs and 4 fresh duck eggs. I felt so bad about my family eating them (I’m a vegetarian, don’t eat eggs), and so I sneaked one duck egg out of the container… (my parents never noticed). I got the duck when it was relatively still warm on December 25, 08. Today is January 23, 2009. The egg still hasn’t hatched yet. Is it dead?
Question about buying fertile duck eggs off of the internet?
Have you ever done so? Did they hatch? If so, where did you get them? I really want a duck egg that is cheap. PLEASE HELP.
How long do salted duck eggs keep?
I bought some cooked, salted duck eggs, vaccuum-wrapped in red plastic.
It says on the package to “Refrigerate” them, but when I Bought them, they weren’t in refrigeration.
How long will these last? I bought them a year and a half ago. They were unrefrigerated probably the first 6 months, and now they’ve been refrigerated the last year. Are they still ok to eat? I already ate one today.
I am need answers to questions about hatching mallard duck eggs?
I raised Mallard ducks before but, never incubatored them. I have 12 eggs that came into my incubator at different times. So I know that you need to stop turning to egg on the 3th day before the 28th day gets here. How do I know which one with that be? Also, by candleing them that should tell me which is the one that is more developed then the others right? I should see the forming of the duck inside right? Then once they are hatch how long to I wait until I remove them out of the incubator into the box with light? Because I know that I will have some eggs in the incubator that will be in there and not hatching until later in time… PLease help me because my time is running out the ducklings will be here soon… It is very interesting to incubate and hatch the eggs very interesting. I enjoyed doing it.. Cotact me with answers please. Thanks Kayla
